📖 VU SR Parliament is...

a VU SR governing body, which considers the most important social and academic, student-related or other VU SR strategic issues.

The VU SR Parliament consists of:

  • the president of the organization;
  • the chairpersons of the VU SR units and two representatives from each unit.

The work of the VU SR Parliament is organized by the chairperson.

VU SR Parliament was chaired by Viktorija Amankavičiūtė.

In 2025–2026, the VU SR Parliament consisted of:

Decision on the Format of the VU SR Parliament (Committee-Based Work)

A decision was made to organize the Parliament’s activity on a committee basis in order to improve efficiency and ensure a more in-depth analysis of issues. This change allows for a more focused examination of issues relevant to students and increases member engagement. This operational format had been discussed for several years. During this term, this operational principle has been tested.

VU SR Annual Activity Plan for 2025–2026

The annual activity plan, which defines the organization’s main directions, goals, and priorities, has been approved. This document is important because it ensures the consistent execution of activities and a focus on students’ needs throughout the entire year.

Student Representatives Elected to the Vilnius University Senate

Student representatives have been elected to the Vilnius University Senate, where they represent the voice of students in the university’s highest governing body. This process is important because it strengthens students’ influence in strategic decision-making and ensures that issues related to studies and the academic environment are considered with students’ needs in mind.

Update project to the VU SR Rules of Procedure approved

The updated Rules of Procedure were presented and approved as part of an effort to modernize the organization’s operational processes. The updates help ensure more transparent, clearer, and more effective decision-making.

Approval of Model Regulations for VU SR Units Performing Representational Functions

Model regulations have been approved to standardize the principles of representation across different units. This contributes to higher-quality student representation and clearer organization of activities throughout the entire structure.

Position on Support for the Cultural Community

The organization’s position has been formulated, expressing support for the cultural community. Such decisions strengthen VU SR’s role in civic engagement and reflect the values and solidarity of the student community.

Approval of the VU SR 2026 Budget Proposal

The organization’s budget, which outlines the allocation of financial resources for the coming year, has been approved. Budget approval is an essential part of transparent and responsible planning of the organization’s activities.

Presentation and Approval of the Student Initiative Center’s Regulations

The regulations governing the activities of the Student Initiative Center have been approved. This decision is important for creating more favorable conditions for the implementation of student ideas and more active involvement in university life.

Approval of the Plan for the Prevention of Academic Ethics Violations

A prevention plan aimed at reducing violations of academic ethics was presented and approved. This contributes to the creation of an honest academic environment and the assurance of the quality of studies.

Discussion on Election Reform

A discussion was held on potential changes to the election system, with the aim of increasing transparency and student engagement. This topic is important because it strengthens the organization’s democratic processes and the quality of representation.

Resolution on Ensuring Equal Opportunities and Promoting Diversity at Vilnius University

The resolution on ensuring equal opportunities and promoting diversity within the Vilnius University community aims to ensure that all students are treated equally and feel safe. It emphasizes non-discrimination, strengthening inclusion, improving the accessibility of studies and the environment, and consistent community education on the importance of diversity. The university is urged to actively implement these principles and ensure their adherence in practice.

Student Engagement in Scientific Activities

A long-term working group has been established to address this issue. Discussions were held on strengthening student engagement in scientific activities, and key barriers were identified. Proposals have been submitted to the Lithuanian Science Council regarding increased funding for summer internships, simpler application processes, and broader opportunities to participate in research projects at early stages of study. This is important to create more favorable conditions for students to participate in research and strengthen their academic competencies.

Best Lecturer Election

The procedures for the VU SR Best Lecturer Election have been approved, establishing how the evaluation and selection of lecturers will be conducted. They define the procedure for nominating candidates, voting, and evaluation, as well as the criteria (e.g., teaching quality, interaction with students), and outline the process for organizing the election and announcing the results.
